Hammered Copper Care

  • The hammering process beats an inherent, durable shine into the metal
  • Decrease required maintenance by washing and drying completely after each use - do not use abrasive pads
  • Whenever more shine is desired, polish with a good metal polish such as Brilliant® Metal Polish, Wright's Copper Polish, or a mixture of lemon juice, lime juice or vinegar with some dissolved salt
  • For major refurbishment of copper pieces, use a buffing wheel with polishing rouge - shines like new and may remove small scratches
  • Please Note: Copper-plate finishes are often very thin. Careless polishing can damage or even remove the finish. It is often best to allow copper-plate pieces to develop a natural patina without polishing.
