All About Riedel
The Riedel family has been in the glass making business for over 250 years, spanning 11 generations. In the 1950's, Claus Riedel, the 9'th generation of the family, made a startling discovery, that the taste and bouquet of fine wine is affected by the size and shape of the glass in which it is served.
Capitalizing on this discovery, Riedel has since developed a number of series of wine tasting glasses in various sizes and shapes, each of which is best suited to serving wines having a particular blend of qualities (fruit, acidity, minerals, tannin and alcohol). Currently managed by the 10'th and 11'th generations of the family, it has long been world renowned for these glasses.
The Riedel glasses offered by RSS Distributors all have the classic delicate, unadorned look characterized by Riedel stemware, but have been engineered for improved durability to better serve the restaurant and rental industries. They also are representative of the sizes and shapes best suited for serving a wide selection of wines.
